October 2026 Decision	Texas — UIL Legislative Council	Whether to add girls flag football. In June the Council asked UIL staff for an implementation plan and a superintendent survey. A Council approval would also need the Commissioner of Education's sign-off.	Association
October 2026 Decision	Oregon — OSAA	Sanctioning vote. Girls flag football reached 58 schools in 2026, past the 50-school threshold for an emerging activity to be considered.	Association
Fall 2026 Decision	Minnesota — MSHSL	Whether to designate girls flag football an emerging sport, the first step toward sanctioning. The proposal was tabled in June.	Reporting
January 2027 Decision	NCAA — Divisions I, II and III	Whether to create a National Collegiate Flag Football Championship. All three divisions must approve; the first championship would be in spring 2028.	Association
Spring 2027 First season	Rhode Island — RIIL	First sanctioned season, after the Principals' Committee on Athletics approved the sport in August 2026.	Reporting
Spring 2027 First championship	District of Columbia — DCSAA	First season with girls flag football as a DCSAA state championship sport, after the April 2026 announcement. Earlier D.C. events were invitationals.	Association
Spring 2027 Decision	Missouri — MSHSAA annual ballot	If participation holds for a second year, member schools vote on making girls flag football fully interscholastic; a two-thirds majority is needed.	Reporting
Spring 2027 First championship	NAIA	First NAIA Women's Flag Football National Championship. Qualification, format and site still to be announced.	Association
May 2027 Decision	Indiana — IHSAA	Sanctioning vote expected, after girls flag football passed the IHSAA's 100-school threshold for an emerging sport.	Reporting
2027-28 Milestone	Louisiana — LHSAA	End of the two-year pilot required before final adoption; reporting puts full sanctioning in 2027-28.	Reporting
