Checked on 2026-11-01 against NSAA's association legislative proposals (2026-27 cycle).
Girls flag football is not among the NSAA's sports. Four proposals from member schools for the 2026-27 legislative cycle would make it a three-year emerging sport from 2027-28, under the framework the NSAA used for girls' wrestling in 2020: Millard South (District 2), Brady (District 4) and South Sioux City (District 3), which also has a combined proposal with boys volleyball. Three would start play in spring 2028; the South Sioux City combined proposal puts it in the fall, from fall 2027, with no NSAA postseason. Under the NSAA's legislative calendar, proposals go to district meetings in November and January, the Legislative Commission in February and the Representative Assembly in April. Next decision: NSAA Representative Assembly, April 2027.
