Checked on 2026-09-15 against NIAA's association reference manual.
NIAA lists flag football as a WINTER sport, unlike every other state verified so far. The 2026-27 NIAA Flag Football Reference sets a published alignment running 2025-26 through 2027-28: Class 5A with one 10-team league and Class 4A with four nine-team leagues, both Southern only. Schools in Classes 1A, 2A and 3A that choose to offer the sport join the Class 4A championship series. Contact limit is 18 games plus two tournaments. History: Clark County School District began play in 2012-13 to fill a winter sport gap for girls; an NFHS article from November 2017 says the sport was entering its second season of NIAA sanctioning, which puts the first sanctioned season in 2016-17, and that the original rules were based on the NIRSA rules book (https://nfhs.org/stories/interest-in-girls-flag-football-building-in-nevada).
