Checked on 2026-11-01 against IGHSAU's association website (list of sanctioned sports).
Girls flag football is not among the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union's 11 sports. Girls' sports in Iowa are governed by the IGHSAU, not the IHSAA. Reporting quotes the IGHSAU's executive director as saying there is no plan to add the sport and that at least 50 schools must commit before a new sport is sanctioned; we have not seen that in IGHSAU documents.
