Checked on 2026-11-01 against MIAA's association website (sports list and process for adding a sport).
Girls flag football is not an MIAA sport. In the 2025-27 rules cycle a proposal to add it was rejected: the MIAA Track and Field Committee's 30 October 2024 minutes record it as rejected 3-9-1, and it is not among the approved changes for 2025-27; reporting says the Board voted it down 16-6 in January 2025. On 12 November 2025 the MIAA Board approved a new process: a sport can apply to become an Emerging Sport with at least 15% of member schools sponsoring it or principals' letters of support, with applications due 1 October and reviewed by the Board. Reporting says girls flag football advocates filed an application on 1 October 2026; the MIAA Board's 13 October 2026 agenda has an item to adopt or remove a sport, without naming one. The New England Patriots run a high school league outside the MIAA.
