Membership voted 311-18 on 4 May 2026 to sanction girls flag football effective 2026-27, the NJSIAA's 35th sanctioned sport, following a two-year pilot. Placed in the spring season, giving girls a fifth spring varsity option. Reported school counts for spring 2026 vary between sources.
