Board of Directors voted to sanction on 6 May 2026, effective 2026-27, under NFHS rules. Grew from a Carolina Panthers pilot of 19 schools in 2022 to more than 150 participating schools by May 2026. NCHSAA requires two years of data showing at least 25% of member schools participating before sanctioning a sport.
